How do you think the batboys (+ possibly Bruce) would react to a male SO having an inappropriate emotional response. Specifically laughing as a reaction to pain/extreme emotions. Not being able to control it and seeming hysterical. - â
Hi there!
Thanks so much for the ask! I hope you enjoy this đ
-Sky
Bruce
When you and Bruce first start appearing in public as an official couple, Bruceâs public relations (PR) manager will probably voice their concerns about your relationship. His PR manager might feel that you are not good for his public image. âIf Y/N has a fit of laughter at the gala, youâll be the laughingstock,â argues the PR manager. Bruce will fire them on the spot. Itâll probably blow up into a big scandal in the tabloids.
If you happen to read the stories, it probably plants a seed of doubt in your mind. You might start to feel like you donât deserve to be with Bruce. However, donât bother trying to be noble and break up with him to preserve his public image. He wonât let you go unless you truly donât want to be with him.
Bruce doesnât like it when you use self-deprecating humor. If you say something like, âYour PR manager isnât going to be happy with me. Youâll probably have to give them a raise for all the damage control theyâre going to have to do,â Bruce will immediately shut that down. He refuses to let you talk about yourself as if youâre a burden, even if you are half-joking. He reminds you that, âlaughing isnât something you can control and thatâs okay.â
If youâre nervous about attending an event, Bruce helps you prepare by scoping out the building and figuring out where to stand and mingle so that you always have a quick escape if you start to feel overwhelmed or need to take a break.
If people are gossiping about you, Bruce will confront them. He doesnât use threats. Heâs composed and professional when he insinuates that theyâre insolent ignoramuses for being judgmental. That usually leaves them feeling embarrassed and Bruce is satisfied with that.
Dick
Dick is a former entertainer so he enjoys making people smile and laugh. He doesnât see your uncontrollable laughter as a negative trait. If you need some cheering up, Dick will tell you how much he adores your laugh and how lucky he is to hear it. Of course, he understands how uncontrollable laughter might cause you distress, so during those times, he will likely hold you and tell you that everything is going to be okay.
Dick wonât force you to go out in public if youâre anxious about having an uncontrollable reaction in a social setting, but he will strongly encourage you to try. He doesnât want you to miss out on life and he also just really loves your company. Some days are good and you challenge yourself to get out in public while other days are harder and you donât feel up to doing anything outside. Dick will let you know that itâs okay to take the day off. If youâre skipping an event (e.g., graduation, a concert, a party), Dick will do his best to bring the event to you. Heâll decorate your home appropriately for the festivity and make sure you have a great time.
If an episode of laughter occurs in public, Dick will find you a safe and comfortable place to calm down. If people are sincerely concerned for you, Dick will politely explain if you are comfortable with him telling people. If people are being obnoxious to you, Dick will tell them to mind their own business. If you are getting harassed, Dick will pull out his badge and become Officer Grayson. Heâll give the douchebags a warning and will make arrests if necessary.
Jason
When Jason witnesses your laughing fit for the first time, heâs genuinely worried about you. He doesnât know what to do and feels useless. Heâs not sure if you want physical contact or space so he just hovers around, waiting for a hint. If you want comfort, he will hold you in his arms and rub soothing circles on your back. If you want alone time, Jason will busy himself by making you your favorite snack so you have something to eat when youâre feeling better.
Jason absolutely hates when you feel ashamed of your emotional reactions. If you put yourself down and say, âI laugh like the f*cking Joker! Iâm as screwed up and damaged as him!â he will immediately tell you otherwise. âYou are nothing like the Joker. Youâre kind and compassionate and selfless. Living with inappropriate affect doesnât change any of that. And I donât want to hear you say youâre damaged ever again. Thereâs nothing wrong with you. Got it?â he says sternly.
If someone else dares to compare you to the Joker, Jason will go berserk. Even if he doesnât intend to seriously hurt the person, he will by accident because his strength multiplies by tenfold when heâs beyond furious. Sometimes Red Hoodâs foes will mock you because it never fails to get a rise out of Jason. Anyone who knows Jasonâs story knows that the depraved clown is still a major sore spot for him. Having been mercilessly beaten and murdered by the supervillain and being forever haunted by his maniacal laughter, Jasonâs hatred for the Joker is probably justified. Jason refuses to let others disrespect you like that.
Tim
If you are distressed by your inappropriate emotional reactions, Tim will do everything he can to help you manage them. He will suggest therapy and doctorâs appointments and will offer to take you there. He will even ask to attend a meeting with you so he can learn how to best support you. If your therapist recommends using an emotion chart to practice labelling your emotions, Tim will constantly remind to use it throughout the day. Heâll even print out the chart and hang it on the fridge so you have the option to share your feelings with him if you are comfortable. If your doctor prescribes medication, Tim will make sure you take it properly (e.g., at the right time, with/without food).
If you are feeling down about yourself, Tim will use logic to try to convince you that you shouldnât be ashamed because itâs not something you can control. âWould you tell a person with allergies to be ashamed of themselves? No, that would be ridiculous because they have no control over it.â
Tim, like the rest of his family, is treated like a celebrity in Gotham. Naturally, the public is interested in his dating life which means you are also a target of the paparazzi. If you are worried about experiencing a laughing attack in public and having it captured on camera, Tim will get you âanti-paparazziâ clothing. Itâs made out of a reflective material which causes the flash from the camera to reflect back and completely ruin the photo. Itâs common for celebrities to wear an anti-paparazzi jacket, but Tim will get you all sorts of custom-made clothing pieces so that you can still be stylish. For example, if you are attending a gala, he will have some fancy clothes designed for you.
Damian
If kids at school are cruel to you, Damian will stick by your side and act like a personal bodyguard. Heâs witty and often has a snappy comeback for the taunts and teases that you endure. You might be hysterically laughing and a passerby shouts at you, âYou sound like a donkey!â and Damian will retort, âYour native language, I presume?â He wonât engage in physical fights unless itâs necessary for your safety. For example, he will intervene if someone is shoving you around or stuffing you in a locker, but only using enough force to stop their harassment.
Damian is overprotective which can make things worse for you. Heâs always fighting your battles and thatâs just one more reason for bullies to pick on you. They prey on you when youâre alone, âHey chuckles, you going to man/woman up and fight me like a big boy/girl today? Or should I wait for your nanny to show up?â If you mention this to Damian, his first impulse is to confront the bully about their behavior. You have to remind him that would only prove the bully right. Damian will grumble something about injustice but will leave the situation be as per your request. He makes an effort to respect your independence and let you stick up for yourself, but he often slips up because itâs his instinct to protect you.
If you must leave class because of an episode of uncontrollable laughter, Damian will accompany you. The teacher might tell him to sit back down because he doesnât have a hall pass, but he doesnât care. He will walk out of the room without a second thought. Heâll stay with you and help you calm down in any way that he can. Heâll also offer to work on the homework with you so that you donât fall behind.

Harleen and Bruce in med school
Harleenâs a gifted child who got into college 2 years early and is current fast tracking toward her degree. Bruce has taken 5 gap years because he does not want to go to school, but Alfred wonât let him do his mission unless he at least knows how to sew up wounds. Neither of them have any social skills, so when they end up sitting next to each other in the same class and Bruce finds Harleen passed out in the lounge, they mutually agree to be study budies.
They almost never talk, but goddammit if they aren't gonna pass this class together.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Harleenâs devastated when Bruce drops out, but they still text each other constantly. Heâll ask her random questions about how to treat wounds or brokem bones (which Harleen canât answer because sheâs a psychologist not a medical doctor Bruce!) and sheâll text him random facts and study material (which is actually really helpful in detecting brain damage and concussions in crime scene victims).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Harleen graduates, Bruce is at her graduation and after, helps to secure her a job at Arkham.
Heâs so proud of his study buddy because he knows sheâll help the rogues and take them off the street!
And heâs so happy because it means he gets to see her whenever he drops a rogue off, even if they canât interact.
When sheâs assigned the Joker, heâs concerned, but he trusts her. Theyâre still friends and they still text.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After a while, the texts start to get shorter, more infrequent, more impersonal.
He blames it on the job. The Jokerâs exhausting to deal with, he knows, heâs been dealing with this clown for years.
He doesnât even suspect somethingâs wrong until she breaks into tears when he brings in the Joker again. She was distraught, begging that âher Jokerâ would be taken care of, screaming at Batman for hurting him. Heâd never seen her like that before.
Heâs on his way to Arkham as Bruce Wayne the next morning when he gets the news that the Jokerâs escaped again and Harleenâs missing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Harley Quinn appears.
The henchgirl/girlfriend of the Joker.
He doesnât want to believe it, he canât believe, he wonât believe it.
But itâs her.
His study buddy. The girl who shared cookies with him during late nights. The young woman who jumped up into his arms when she got her diploma. The quirky, smarter-than-him, straight-A student who would draw stupid, funny pictures in his notebook when he was getting stressed.
His best friend.
His only friend.

The Mosley Review: Best Films of 2019
Wohoo! 2019 has come and gone and man did it fly by. This year we had sooooo many fantastic films and this year was probably the hardest list to put together. I really wanted to include alot more, but I had to make a few cuts. Now I tend to keep my list to the traditional 10 films, but on some occasions I've extended it to 11. This is one of those occasions. I have one runner up that is worth mentioning and I think it should not be missed.
Missing Link: Many animated films are computer generated now and the art of hand drawn animation is rarely shown. The one type of animation that is all but extinct is stop motion animation. It takes time, patience and passion to bring to life characters with such sophistication and care in an almost forgotten art form. The masterminds at Laika are truly imaginative artist and this film shows that in every frame. Not many films take the story of the myth behind Sasquatch to fun places without being hokey and I was relieved that this film took it seriously and pumped so much fun and heart into the story and I think this was a hidden gem of 2019. Click the title for my full review.
Now, on to my list of 2019's best films of the year. If you want my full review of each film then go ahead and click the title of each film. First one up is definitely a fantastic sequel to a film that the author hated, but loved the film adaptation of his second book.
Doctor Sleep: The Shining is a classic that can never really be touched. Stephen King is famously known for disliking the film adaptation of his novel, but with his blessing placed upon Mike Flanagan's vision for the sequel novel, we got this magnificent film. Not only does this film pay tribute to Stanley Kubrick's film, but it also follows the same rules and visual structure while keeping the film fresh. The tone was consistent and the performances were across the board amazing. Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson and the talented Kyliegh Curran deliver absolute greatness. This film features stunning and intriguing dark moments, but definitely has one of the most disturbing scenes I've ever seen and its all because of Jacob Tremblay's performance in THAT scene.
Ready or Not: How many times have we seen the family initiation story in a romantic comedy? A dozen times I tell you! Well how about you take the same concept, throw in a fun horror version of hide and seek with a hint of the supernatural and great dark comedic writing. You get this fantastic film that is all of that and more. Luckily I stayed away from any major trailers for this film because in retrospect, the R rated trailer gave away too many of the fun gags. The performance of each family member was awesome and this was a standout performance for Samara Weaving. Every year from now on, this film will be on my Halloween watchlist. I loved this film and I can't recommend it enough.
Shazam!: Batman (1989), Superman (1978), The Dark Knight Trilogy and Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse are just to name a few of perfect adaptations of a comic book character to screen. This film was beyond perfection in many ways and the best DC film to date. This film had the right amount of fun, darkness and heart that embodies the life of the titular character. I could see the amount of genuine fun the cast was having on screen and the heartfelt performances of Asher Angel and Zachary Levi were outstanding. Jack Dylan Grazer stole the film with his amazing comedic speed and wit. This was truly a film I had high hopes for and it didn't disappoint.
Avengers: Endgame: How do you start a story in 2008 and bring it to an amazing and satisfying conclusion that wraps up 11 years of storytelling? You have a plan, a clear vision from the very beginning and with that it'll special success. Producer Kevin Feige set out on a journey to bring to life some of the best superheroes and keep them together in a cohesive and long formed narrative to complete a saga that's never been done before. He did it with the best talent behind each film's camera and The Russo Brothers have delivered the most epic film the superhero film genre has ever seen. I have waited my entire life to hear Captain America say "Avengers Assemble!" and I'm so happy I've lived long enough for my dream to come true. This was an emotional journey and end to The Infinity Saga. I really can say so much more about this crowning achievement in storytelling, but I'll keep this summary short.
Rocketman: It was only a mater of time before we got a biopic about the incomparable music legend Elton John. I was hoping that it would not shy away from his sexuality, addictions and his bright and explosive since of style. Well this film jumped right in and held nothing back and I loved every bit. It was truly a fantastical film that had enough gravity and style. The musical locations illustrate his most important moments in his life and are visually stunning and accurate recreations of his most iconic performances. Taron Egerton was Elton John and I loved that he sang all the music. This was truly a masterpiece.
1917: World War II films are a dime a dozen, but the World War I films are rare. Sam Mendes is one of the best directors and all of his films take you on a journey through the eyes, mind and soul of a character and he did exactly that in this film. The fact that this film is almost shot completely in one continuous take, gives every moment gravitas and tension as you watch our main character go along and across enemy lines to prevent an ambush. The score was truly haunting by Thomas Newman and my favorite piece from this film was from the flare scene. Such an stunning achievement in filmmaking should not be missed.
Joker: The clown prince of crime has had many iterations over the past 80 years. The most influential and canonical version of the character came from Frank Miller's The Killing Joke. Heath Ledger's take was iconic and made you scared because of his unpredictability. Joaquin Phoenix has taken the character and given a truly disturbing and authentic performance. As Arthur Fleck, we see through a constantly unraveling psyche, a man become a new and real kind of monster. Not only is this version the most unsettling, but it was beautiful. The cinematography was great and I loved how we got into the mind and heart of the character when he wasn't even speaking. This is a definition of how a person being pushed through horrible conditions can truly become a monster and yet be free. I loved this film and I think it will be studied in many acting classes from here on out.
Ford v Ferrari: There needs to be more racing films of this caliber! I love racing films that are not just about the cars, but also the drivers and their stories. This film was based on the true friendship between Carol Shelby and Ken Miles and I can't say enough how much attention to detail and heart that was put into every frame. The sound design in this film was crisp and powerful. The performances by both Matt Damon and Christian Bale was truly amazing and they had the best chemistry. Their fight scene was the funniest and most realistic fight I've ever seen between 2 friends. James Mangold is one of my favorite directors because of his focus on characters and story first before the action. This was a love letter to the world of racing and a respectful look at the lives of these pioneers of ingenuity and racing.
How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World: How do you make a perfect trilogy? How do you wrap it up with a satisfying and emotional ending? You focus on the story and stay true to the message and heart you started with in the beginning. You let the character bonds naturally grow and make each adventure a learning experience. This film was a perfect ending to the franchise and I can't stress how much I felt like I was with Hiccup and Toothless on their journey to this conclusion. The performances from the cast were stellar as always and although the villain may not have been as great, he still was a good addition. The visuals were the best and the textures in the scales and sand were out of this world. The score by John Powell truly brought me to tears as I got to say goodbye to my favorite companions. If you ever owned a pet, you known the emotional bond that is forged. This was the ultimate pay off and as a pet owner I saw my dog in Toothless' eyes. I will miss this franchise. If you're not crying by the end of this film then something is wrong with you.
The Peanut Butter Falcon: There are some independent films that take a risk in going outside of the norm and telling a story that nobody would have ever dreamed. This film was truly something special and I can't tell you how happy I was throughout. This film focuses on an individual with down syndrome whose dream is to become a wrestler and it is something truly inspirational and heartwarming. Zack Gottsagen was truly brilliant and awesome in this film. I loved his journey and his will to keep going. Shia Lebouf delivers an equally powerful performance and his chemistry with Zack was very sweet. This is one of the best films of 2019 and the most important films of the decade.
And here we are ladies and gentlemen! This is the moment you've all been reading toward. This film was an automatic choice for me the moment the end credits rolled. The crowing jewel of 2019 is none other than.....
Booksmart: I have seen so many high school teen comedies about partying or loosing your virginity before graduation, but never have I seen a film so engaging and focused on the bond of two bestfriends. Their bond was the heart and soul of the film and you couldn't have asked for a better pair of actresses. Beanie Feldstein and Kaitlyn Dever were beyond perfection in every moment of this film and they had me cracking up left and right. Their adventure over the course of one night was truly fun and you are along for the hilarious ride. Billie Lourd nearly stole the whole film out from under them with her surprising and hilarious appearances. The music choices in the film were awesome as well. The comedy in this film was so fresh and from the first 6 minutes of the film youâre locked into these two ladies chemistry. I can't stress enough how much joy this film brought me and for a film to be on my mind for the entire year and to have me constantly recommending it to everyone I know is an achievement of itself. Olivia Wilde has directed a true masterpiece and new definition of a coming of age story. I can't stop gushing about this film so I'll finish off by saying WATCH THIS FILM!
And that is my list of the best films of 2019 and man has it been a great year in film. Lets hope 2020 starts off the decade with a bang! Thanks for reading everyone.

Dirty and Useless (Part 12)
Summary: Jason Todd had always said there were only two types of cop; Dirty and Useless. So when Y/N comes along with a spunky partner and a laughable code name itâs safe to say they donât exactly see eye to eye. But if theyâve got anything in common itâs their secrets. Both are hiding behind masks whether they know it or not. Will the Robin get the Nightingale to come out of the shadows? Pairing: Titans!Jason Todd x Reader Word Count:Â 1543 Warnings: None.
Bruce Wayne was a man of many things. He was a billionaire playboy, a caped crusader, and a proud business owner. Over the years he had donned several masks, each one more intricate and fragile as the last. One thing he had never imagined being â a father. Or rather an absentee, poor excuse of a father.
Heâd given it his all, taught his daughter every skill he knew. But somehow, he had still missed the important stuff, the little achievements that had nothing to do with beating a villain into a gutter in crime alley. Heâd missed milestones and holidays, graduations and birthdays. But most of all heâd missed the warning signs.
Looking back at it, there had been plenty of signs that Y/N was not happy with her gold-encrusted canary cage. Her protectiveness toward the Sparrow had been the biggest warning. But by then â too busy with his new protĂ©gĂ© Dick Grayson â Bruce was far too arrogant to see it. And then all at once, she was gone â in court on one day, out of Gotham the next.
What Bruce Wayne had never been prepared for, was the possibility that maybe the problem hadnât been Y/N. Heâd tried to replace her time and time again. First with Dick Grayson, who heâd molded into the perfect Robin. But even then, Bruce had missed the cries for help and Dick had left too.
But this time, with Jason Todd â whose only wish was to be close to the great Batman â there was no possible way that Bruce could screw this up. Or so the man had thought. Somehow, heâd managed to push even the ever-so-violently-brash Jason away.
âAnd how was your day Jason?â Bruce asked over dinner â despite the fact that Jason had made a point to ignore the man all afternoon.
âIt was fine.â He sighed, with a deject shrug. âY/N took me out after lunch, so it wasnât exactly the worst.â
Y/N gave him a teasing pout, âYou make it sound like seeing me isnât the highlight of your day.â
Jasonâs answering expression was something of an amused smirk, with a playful eye roll thrown in the mix. For whatever reason Jasonâs grumpy mood was directed only at the big bad Batman. Y/N gave an exasperated sigh as she tutted into a spoonful of her dinner.
âOops, sorry Jay,â She snarked, âI didnât mean to get in the way of your whole teenage angst thing. How long does it take you to make your hair look like you could careless in a perfect sorta way?â
Bruce had no idea what his daughter was going on about but his newest protégé obviously did. The boy had to wait several minutes for his shoulders to stop shaking in silent laughter before he answered;
âIt was your bike helmets, the style just seemed to suit me.â
Y/N cracked a smile, âSure does, Boy Blunder.â
âOh, like youâre not the clumsiest girl Iâve ever met,â He grumbled, running a hand through his hair unconsciously. âYou tripped over like three times, at the park today.â
âWait, you two went to the park?â Bruce interrupted.
âWell yeah,â Y/N shrugged, âJason told you, I took him out of school after lunch so we could get ice cream.â
Jason scoffed loudly, eyebrows raised, âWhen you say it like that it sounds like you didnât roll up on your motorcycle and threaten Gregory.â
âThat was his name?â
âYou what?â Bruce demanded. âWhat were you thinking? What if the press finds out?â
âSay theyâre lying? I donât know what youâre worried about, Iâm the lost daughter of Gotham theyâre not going to do anything.â
Bruce opened his mouth to continue ranting, likely about how she was being irresponsible and painting a bad picture for the Wayne name. Sheâd heard the same lecture a million times before, Jason probably had too. So, when her phone started ringing merrily, both were a little more than relieved.
Holding a silencing finger up â rather rudely, but what did she care â she held the phone to her ear for a moment. After grumbling a few affirmatives and answering a few no doubt strange questions, Y/N hung up and turned to Jason.
âIâm going to see a friend after dinner,â She gave a wicked grin. âCare to join me?â
***
Jason Todd was glad he wasnât a villain. Heâd rather fight Joker a hundred times over than spend more than a handful of minutes in Arkham Asylum. It was fucking creepy as shit. With damp corridors, low ceilings and rows of flickering lights it was straight out of an old horror story.
But Y/N seemed right at home as she strode beside him, navigating the halls like she knew the place inside and out. It was not reassuring. She strut between the barred doors, paying little attention to the cackling lunatics within. For whatever reason Jason had assumed that they were going to meet a level headed companion. Perhaps one of her colleagues from the bureau or a down to earth socialite that sheâd befriended.
Instead, they were being escorted through a fucking prison. It seemed that the woman wasnât done scarring him just yet. At first, heâd chuckled at the idea; how could she beat making a seasoned Gotham thug piss himself with only her eerie singing? The answer was simple â by dragging him through the prison of Gothamâs most wanted, most of whom were likewise pissing themselves at the mere sight of her.
âWe just passed Bane,â Jason gawked, âHe fucking bowed.â
âIâve been at this a hell of a lot longer than you,â She shrugged as if it were that simple. âI figure that being nice to the villains gets you further in life, but some of them â Bane for example â think thatâs weakness. So, I had to show him that my kindness is a blessing. One that he should be begging for.â
Jason reminded himself why he wanted her on his side. She was a different breed of vigilante, one that people thought twice about crossing. He doubted that the GCPD ever gave her trouble like they did to him and Bruce. Perhaps she had scared the shit out of them too, or maybe they left her be because all she did was sing her song and everyone fell to their knees.
Not for the first time he wondered what it had been like when sheâd first started out. She must have done something to command so much respect. Somewhere along the lines, she must have been forced to prove herself. He wondered if sheâd ever killed anyone in pursuit of the power, she now so carelessly wielded. It wasnât exactly unlikely.
âSo, who are we visiting?â
âHarvey Dent.â It fell silent for a moment, as Jason waited for her to explain. But the silence seemed to only stretch on further, as they made their way through the Asylum.
âTwo-face?âHe exhaled heavily, âWhy the fuck are we visiting a half-retired, back alley villain? Heâs got no stake in the upcoming war, I wouldnât be surprised if he didnât know shit about it.â
âHarvey knows something about everything,â Y/N assured as she straightened out her blazer. âHeâll have plenty of information about your precious little clown fight.â Â
âYou sound like you know him.â
âIn the old days - before the whole acid to the side of his face thing â he worked with my father. Putting the criminals, we caught behind bars.â She tugged at her sleeves, hating the fact that sheâd been forced to wear the stiff outfit to convince the guards they were on âofficial-businessâ. âDad tried to rehabilitate him a few times but I⊠Look Iâm not proud of it, but I set him up to take outa few low-level criminals.â
âYou set him up to take people out?â Jason couldnât hold in his snickers if he tried. âYou, little Miss. Perfect Daughter of Gotham? I donât believe you for a second.â
âThatâs funny, bird brain.â Y/N pulled at the shoulder of his own suit, making sure it sat properly. âAnyway, when I was trying to get the court to let me leave Gotham, Harvey helped me. Heâs an A-list Gotham asshole but he keeps quiet enough that he can discreetly provide information.â
âI couldâve gotten us the same info.â Jason rolled his eyes, âWhatâs the point of all this when we could punch it out of the Joker himself.â
They paused in front of a door, âWell thatâs not exactly discrete is it? The point of calling me in, was to minimize damages, wasnât it? If we can get the right information, we could defuse all this before it even starts. So, think of this as your second lesson.â
âYeah, so lesson one; fight with the Robin symbol.â He scoffed, âLet me guess, lesson two; try talking first? Bruce would be so proud.â
Y/N sighed heavily. She dug a key out of her pocket, wondering how any of the criminals in Arkham, managed to stay there for long at all as she unlocked the door in front of them. A familiar half-melted face greeted her from the metallic table heâd been handcuffed to. Two-faceâs signature coin, rolling between his fingers.
âLesson two is shut up and do as I do.â
A/N: With the second season of Titans finally on Netflix, this story is going to be updated far more frequently so Iâd like to ask; After the Joker v Harley fight is cleared up, would you like to see some things from Season 2?Â
And further on in the story, there might be some discussion around who the reader's mother is. So if you have any thoughts or recommendations on who Y/Nâs mother should be, feel free to comment them!Â

The Article | Joker Leto x Reader Pt 1.
Request:Â Oo what about the reader is in college but works at her school's newspaper but the Gotham paper is doing a contest and she wants to win so she tries to interview Mr. J. (Harley is out of the picture). And he ends up kidnapping her for a week yet allowing her to write about him, and possibly some smexi smut. If you're into it -- @ladylucksposts
Notes: This was way longer than expected, with the backstory, and setting everything up. I decided to make the executive decision to split this into two parts. They should be out back-to-back. The kidnapping isnât the traditional idea of it, given the way I set it up, but I hope it still satisifes the desire. Warnings: Kidnapping (kinda?), dark topics, swearing.Â
Part 2.
You stood outside of Alibi, one of the busiest clubs in Gotham. It was also the most dangerous. Almost every person inside would be guaranteed to be armed, or accompanied by someone who was. Mob bosses, serial killers, pimps, and hookers all frequented the club. It was a pretty poorly kept secret if a little girl in college knew about it all... The GCPD probably knew about it as well, but if you had to guess, they and all the heroes of the city stayed far away. Going in there and causing trouble was suicide. GCPD would lose a lot of their officers, and vigilantes would get the brave, innocent (and stupid) bystanders killed, as well as others.
You supposed you couldnât call the club goers who dared to go for a good time stupid... they were just surrounding themselves with some of the most dangerous people in Gotham, but most of the time, so long as everyone behaved and kept their nose out of private business, it was just a night of adrenaline. Sure, every now and then a shooting would happen there, a deal gone wrong, a misunderstanding, a psycho having an episode... You, on the other hand, were poking your nose where it didnât belong. You were there to see the owner and the most dangerous man in Gotham. The Joker.Â
The Gotham Gazette was holding a contest for people who wanted to work at the paper, and they were offering a big sum of money for the winner to buy the best story. You were studying journalism, and it was your dream job. Working at the Gotham Gazette was the best job journalism job you could get in Gotham, and then maybe you could get out of the shithole town and do something even bigger. There were a lot of talented writers, and you were sure there would be some pretty amazing entries. The only way to win was to do something daring, and a little -- okay, incredibly stupid.Â
The Joker was a household name and struck fear in every Gotham citizen. He was also someone people knew the last amount about... Two-Face was previously Harvey Dent whoâd gotten injured and lost his mind, Harley Quinn was formerly a psychiatrist who fell for her patient and then was driven insane.. and a variety of other people with known pasts. The Joker was the biggest mystery, to the point, no one knew his name. All official papers had his real name listed as âunknownâ and his alias as the Joker. If you could get anything, and make it available to the public, youâd win for sure. If you survived to tell the tale, though.
You stepped into the club, taking a deep breath. It looked like a pretty normal club inside... music played, people danced and drank, there were cages for people to dance in, and a roped off VIP section. But the energy was different and uneasy. The VIP section was where youâd have to go, and where you saw a bit of green hair poking through the beads. A part of you had considered going undercover, trying to get a story in secret, but that was dangerous from start to end... Lying, sneaking around, and then later publishing a story. If you survived enough to get your name out there, youâd be dead before you could ever enjoy your prize. No, you had to be direct, and hope that bravery (and stupidity) would get you somewhere, and that the somewhere wouldn't be a body bag.
You got a shot, downing the liquid and letting it burn your throat, hoping it would give you some courage. It helped a little bit, and you considered doing another, but knew you had to keep a level enough head. If you tried to approach the Clown Prince of Crime while intoxicated, he wouldnât take you seriously and may kill you just for being annoying. So with the one shot buzzing through you, you walked straight over to the VIP section. Two bouncers stood by, and you were sure there were more inside. The Joker was insane, but he was also insanely protected.Â
âVIP only, miss,â one guard said as you approached. This wasnât a VIP section where they asked your name and checked a list. The list was exclusive, and theyâd know if someone was to be expected.Â
âI know,â you assured them, squaring your shoulders. âI was hoping to have a few minutes to talk to your boss. I have a business proposition for him, and this is the only way I know how to contact him,â you said. A business proposition sounded way more official and legit than âI want to interview your boss for a newspaper contest.âÂ
âIs anyone expecting you here?â the same security guard asked, sizing you up. You were in clubwear, something low cut and short in hopes to up your chances of getting your foot in the door. You werenât the hottest girl in the club but hoped it was enough.Â
You shook your head. âNo, like I said, heâs a hard man to contact. I assure you, it will only take a few minutes. If he canât meet now, if someone could give me information to contact someone, I can do it another time.â You hoped being as diplomatic as possible would help. You could still see the neon green hair behind them, but not much beyond that. You had no idea if he was already in a meeting or not.Â
The bouncers exchanged a look, before the one who had been addressing you turned into the section behind him. âHey, Frost. Got a girl here who wants to talk to the boss,â they said.Â
A third man came over, tall, not bad looking, full beard. He looked you over, trying to figure out who you were and why you were here. âYou want to talk to the boss?â he asked, skeptical, confused, and trying to decide what he should do.Â
âI do, yes. Just a few minutes, whenever he has some free time,â you answered, looking him in the eyes.Â
He glanced between the two bouncers, before back at you. He almost looked amused. âYou got guts, kid. Most people are afraid to get anywhere near the Boss,â he acknowledged. âAlright, Iâll give you a few minutes. If weâre honest, itâs only because Iâm curious how thisâll go down, and because heâd be more willing to meet with a hot chick than any other random stranger,â he said. So the tiny dress had been to your advantage.Â
The bouncers separated, and you followed Frost into the VIP section. Your nerves were going wild, and you felt like you may vomit or pass out. You got the meeting, but that meant you were getting ready to meet the Joker. Face to face. In his own club. No one was here to protect you, and you were on his turf. If you said the wrong thing or caught him in the wrong mood, youâd be dead in two seconds. Frost stopped in front of you and turned to face you, holding up a hand to have you stop as well. You stopped obediently, looking at him but didnât speak. Youâd speak when spoken to, and try to be on your very best behavior.Â
âYou mind if I give you a pat down? I donât think there are many places you can keep anything in that tiny dress, but better to be safe,â he requested. With the way he was eying you, you were pretty sure half of it was his own personal desire. Still, you nodded and shifted so that he could do as much. At first, it was a simple official patdown, your sides, back, stomach... then he felt around your breasts, ass, and even between your legs. You were extremely uncomfortable, but it was over quickly. There wasnât much fabric, so there wasnât much room to search. âAll clear,â he said, giving you a playful wink, before guiding you through the beads. You almost wondered if he had agreed to let you come back here in hopes the Joker would let him have you before killing you. Frost wasnât a bad looking guy, but it still skeeved you out.Â
As soon as he stepped out of the way, you saw the Joker sitting on a white couch, eyes focused on his phone. He almost looked harmless as he sat there, reading through something with slightly burrowed brows (or rather brow bone since there was no hair except for on his head.) You knew better though, and your blood ran cold. There was no turning back now.
âHey, Boss. This girl wanted to talk to you about something,â Frost said, almost seeming easy around the King of Gotham. It seemed like he was high up in the ranks so it would make sense. But how could anyone get comfortable around a volatile homicidal maniac?Â
The Jokerâs eyes moved up slowly, flicking to Frost, before at you. Once he took in your appearance, his phone was set aside, forgotten, and you had his full attention. He eyed you, and you saw a bit of his tongue come out to lick his lips.
âSit,â Frost told you, motioning to the couch opposite his boss. You complied, holding your hands in your lap, and he sat toward the end of the same couch. âThought if she was insane enough to come to see you, it may be worth hearing her out. Or at least something pretty to look at,â he commented.
The Joker gave Frost a look of mild amusement, a smile coming over his bright red lips, before turning back to you. âWhat brings you here, Kitten?â he purred, curiosity evident in his grey eyes.Â
The nickname made you further uneasy, but this was your one opportunity. You swallowed down your nerves, your mouth feeling bone dry now. There was no going back though. âI donât want to waste any of your time, so Iâll cut right to the chase. I go to Gotham University, and the Gazette is doing a contest with the school for journalists. Winner gets a job once they graduate, which is my dream job. I thought a good choice of topic would be you,â you said, trying to get it all out without seeming too rushed.
You could see Frost quirk a brow in your peripheral, but your main focus stayed on The Joker. His head cocked to the side as he stared at you, listening and processing to what youâd said. âOn me?â he said simply.
âYes, sir. Youâre one of the most well-known people of Gotham City, but very little is known about you. I thought you may have an interest in controlling the narrative and telling your side. Many people talk about you, and write about you, without ever having even seen you in person. This is my attempt to change that,â you explained. Showing a bit of sympathy, as well as what heâd gain from agreeing seemed like the best way to go about doing it. You had to sell this to him and sell it well.Â
âSo youâre to play Devilâs Advocate, are you now?â he asked. It was hard to read his expression. He had a great poker face.Â
You glanced at Frost as if he would provide any answers, but he wasnât any more helpful, and you turned back to the clown. âIf thatâs how you want to look at it, I suppose itâs not far off. You certainly have your ways of sending messages to the media and citizens of this city, but this gives you a more drawn out platform. I already have some questions in mind, but we donât have to talk about anything you donât want to, and if thereâs something you want to focus on, then Iâm more than happy to let you... steer the bus, shall we say?âÂ
He kept watching of you, and you could see a million thoughts racing around in his head. His henchman was even watching, curious to see what his boss would do. You couldnât tell if the thoughts were good or bad, blank face still up. Shortly after, a smile lit up his face, and a little laugh came out that sent shivers down your spine. âYou certainly have a lot of... guts,â he said, glancing at your torso as if he was imagining tearing you open to see them. âIâll agree to it. On one teeny tiny little condition,â he practically purred.
You perked, not believing that this was happening. âAnything,â you said, a little too quickly. Perhaps offering to anything for a man like the Joker wasnât the smartest move, but had you really been smart these past few hours?Â
âYou will stay here, with me, for the next seven days. You will not leave. If you have work or class, call it off. You do whatever I say, and I decide when we do work. You can ask your questions, but Iâm under no obligation to answer any. Your final draft will be finished and submitted before you leave. No recordings, drafts, photographs, videos, anything of the sort will leave with you. Iâm not going to make contingencies for what would happen if you were to not win, because Iâm confident what you leave here will be a masterpiece,â he was grinning wider now. âThatâs my deal. Take it or leave it,â he said. Something about the look in his eye told you that you didnât have a choice. If you said no thank you, heâd kill you. But saying yes... saying yes meant agreeing to spend an entire week with The Joker, doing everything he said. You had a feeling there would be things to push you, and heâd try to break you. He did it to Harley and a lot of other people.Â
âI donât have any of my things with me, I even left my phone in my car,â you started, wondering how this would go if you only had one dress and that was it. You werenât planning on this turning into a long, sinister slumber party.Â
âYouâll give Frost your keys and address. Heâll pick up clothes, your computer, and anything else you request of him... within reason,â he stated.Â
You looked at Frost at the mention of him, and he gave a small shrug. Taking a breath, you made the decision youâd likely regret for years to come. but at least then youâd have years to come. âOkay. Letâs do it.âÂ
To be continued...

No Safety or Surprise [Part I - Excerpt]
Summary: A haunting broadcast reveals the Jokerâs final act and sets off a chain of events that will destroy the world. Terry finds himself collaborating once more with the estranged members of Bruceâs former team. As the end nears, however, he and the other Bats are faced with hard choices about survivalâand forgiveness.
Disclaimer: I donât own anything to do with Batman. I donât make any money off this. Itâs just me playing in a sandbox. (And Iâll put a better disclaimer on this at some other point.)
Authorâs Note: First fic in the Batman universe, yay! (Well, second, but the first one was high school ago and was a blatant self-insert lol). Iâve been toying with this idea for a while now. Itâs taken some in-depth planning, but I finally have something to show for it. This is only one part of a very large first chapter, but I thought Iâd throw it out there into cyberspace and see what people think. Iâll post it here in mini excerpts, but eventually Iâll put it on FF.Net and Ao3, once itâs all shiny and edited.
Spoilers: Everything in Batman Beyond until but not including the âRewiredâ storyline or anything afterward. Also, references to events and characters present in the DC âverse up to the New 52 (after the âRobin Risesâ story arc) but before Rebirth. (And JFC do I hate keeping all these timelines straight!)
Warnings: Leading up to canon-divergence; eventual main character deaths (except not really, because timey wimey stuff); a few minor original characters; multiple POVs
Timeline: Takes place after the events of 10 000 Clowns but before Terry McGinnis graduates high school.
Bruce is beginning to wonder if a Lazarus Pit might not have been a better idea than the liver transplant. Of the methods for artificially prolonging life, at least with the Pit, he would eventually start to feel like he was recovering.
After the madness subsided, at least.
On days like todayâwhen itâs damp and chilly, and thereâs nothing going on in Gotham to keep him glued to the computer screen in the Caveâitâs hard to remember the arguments heâs always made against using the restorative powers of a Lazarus Pit. He body protests with every movement as he eases it through several slowed kata variations. Part of his physical therapy, as suggested (ordered) by his doctors.
Since his procedure, he feels the exhaustion much more keenly. Itâs a bone-deep fatigue that seeps into every muscle, emphasizing the way his bones creak and grind against each other, cartilage worn away from age and decades of abuse. Itâs the way his energy levels drain so much faster no, to the extent that even his usual ability to will himself into action seems to wane every day.
Not that he really had a choice in the matter. He was in end stage liver failure, and the nearest Pit is in New Cuba. Heâd just been lucky that there was a suitable donor in the hospital at the right time.
âLuckâ is one word for it. âCruel ironyâ might be a better phrase.
Douglas Tan is one of the names heâs going to carry on his conscience for the rest of his life; or, at least on his liver.
Terry still makes jokes about Batman having a piece of a Joker inside him, but then Terry tends to use humor to cover up when heâs worried. Dick always did that, too; and Jason.
Bruce scowls, bothered by the direction of his thoughts, as well as the raggedness to his breath. He isnât even moving very fast, but itâs taking him every bit of strength to keep at it.
Ace is curled up in his usual spot in the cave, watching Bruce with what seems to be narrowed eyes. As if to say, donât overdo it or I will knock you over.
He knows the dog is smarter than most people.
Ace is one of the reasons the doctors were willing to leave him to pursue recovery on his own and not under some beady-eyed nurse in hospital. Money isnât as much an incentive as it once was, with so many legal and health standards in the way; the older he gets, the less likely people are to trust his ability to make decisions, lawyers or not.
He tolerated a private nurse for about a day while having Terry make other arrangements and manufacturing a piece of paper saying Ace was a certified service dog. Heâs not, but Bruce has no doubt the dog would activate the medical alert button at the computer if something were to happen. And Terry has an alarm set up, keyed into the surveillance and motion sensors in the Cave. If anything were to happen, he can be here faster than any ambulance.
Old age has fed into long-buried fears, and it gives him an embarrassing sense of relief knowing thereâs someone to look in on him. It has always bothered him, being dependentâbeing weak.
Some days heâs more accepting of it; some days he wishes he had Kryptonian DNA.
Which is usually the point at which he forces himself to occupy his mind with other things, because envying Clark Kent can only lead down a dark, frustrating path of self-pity. One heâs determinedly avoided ever since meeting the other man.
After another fifteen minutes of forcing himself to think about nothing but the movement of his limbs, Bruce finally finishes his exercises. Sweat coats his back and his limbs ache with the same burn as if he just spent several hours grappling through the Gotham skyline. Even if it took less challenging movements to reach this point, that burn is comforting.
Familiar.
And thatâs a word thatâs been cropping up more in his thoughts lately. History tends to repeat, after all, but itâs still strange to experience. Terryâs been an excellent example of that.
Like Bruce, the McGinnis boy started out with nothing but a suit and an old manâs voice in his ear. Now, heâs got a network. Friends who he trusts and who will keep his secret. A steadily growing list of allies in the field.
The Police Commissioner. The Justice League.
And a Catwoman too, for Christ sakes.
He wonders what Selina would think about that.
Bruce just hopes the kid wonât make his mistakes. Forty years is a long time to rack up regrets.
At least Dickâs back in contact now.
Sort of.
He showed up the second night that Bruce was recovering from his procedure at the hospital; heâd managed to convince Terry to go out on patrol instead of wasting his time watching an old man sleep.
âBatman doesnât get a day off.â
Bruce had dosed for a bit, but not deeply; it wasnât difficult to discern that he wasnât alone. Â
One minute the room was empty and in the next, Bruce could feel that familiar presenceâthe one of a man who had carried the mantles of Robin, Nightwing and Batmanâand somehow lived to tell the tale. Then his estranged son was stepping out of the shadows, glaring down at him, muscles in his jaw working and fists clenching and unclenching.
âI know what youâre going to say,â Bruce had croaked, wishing he had thought to ask for ice chips before the nurse left. âIâm too stubborn to die.â
The silence hanging afterward was filled with everything he couldnât say yet. For once, Dick didnât call him on it.
âYouâre more stubborn than God,â his boy countered.
(Heâll always be a boy to Bruce, grey hair and eye-patch be damned.)
And yet, he sat, arms crossed and spine stiff for the rest of the night. Still angry, but there nonetheless. He stayed until morning rounds without saying anything, and then left.
They havenât seen each other since, but sometimes Bruce can hear feedback on the comms when heâs directing Terryâs patrols. The tinny whisper of signals crossing from the bug he pretends he doesnât know Dick planted on the underside of his medical ID tag.
Itâs not much, but itâs something. The opening of the possibility that at some point, heâll come around.
Barbara did, after all.
Mostly because of Terry, but afterward Bruce started making the effort. They can have conversations alone now that donât end with her yelling at him (or punching him, on one or two memorable occasions). Bruce forgot how much he enjoyed her sense of humor and intelligenceâhow much he enjoyed their friendshipâfrom before they slept together.
(That might be one of his lifeâs biggest shames. Oh, he has regrets associated with all of the family for one thing or another, but this is the one that still wakes him up at night feeling dirty.)
In a way, itâs easier with Tim, and thatâs a bridge Bruce thought had been obliterated long ago.
Granted, heâs leaving Gotham againâthe last incident with the Joker army rattled him enough that he put in for a transfer to the Chinese division of Wayne Enterprisesâbut he stuck around long enough to collaborate with Bruce on a subdermal antitoxin deployment implant against Joker venom.
(None of them want to be caught unawares again.)
Itâs in the prototype phase, with only five of the devices in existence; he, Tim and Terry are testing them personally. Itâs not exactly something the FDA is going to approve for human testing anytime soon, not with all the new legislation, but with the state of Gotham, itâs unwise to wait on it.
(He sent one to Barbara and one to Dick but doesnât know if theyâve bothered to activate them. At least they havenât sent them back.)
If the implant works, Bruce is seriously considering modifying the tech for the Wayne Enterprises medical division. There are a lot of illnesses and viruses out there which require regular dosages of medicine to keep them under control.
Maybe thatâs the next project, after CAIN, he muses, grabbing his towel from where he draped it over one of the computer processors.
His global Clean Air Initiative Network is something heâd been working on before stepping back from the company. It was shelved almost immediately by Derek Powers when he took over, but since Bruce has been back, heâs been revisiting a lot of old projects.
Luciusâ boy did most of the technical work on it, and Foxtecha will have joint ownership of the patent when itâs ready for public consumption. Bruce would have asked Tim, but he knows how determined he is to get out of Gotham. He can read it in the tone of his emails, which have thankfully lost the stilted, formal business tone theyâve had since he returned to the company.
(Bruce mentioned paying a visit in the future, and Tim didnât say no, so he counts that as a win.)
Itâs a little disconcerting how the family is coming together again; disconcerting but welcome.
Heâs received a vid call last week from Cassandra expressing concern over his surgery, and then a short, gruff email from Duke all-but ordering him to get better. Thereâs even a letter from Stephanieâor Eurus, as she goes by these daysâsmelling of dust and desert sun and incense found only in Nanda Parbat. Her messy, looping scrawl, echoed Dickâs sentiment about Bruceâs stubbornness and alluded to its genetic inheritability.
(That said more than if she had actually mentioned Damian outright.)
Bruce lost track of her not long after his sonâs short and brutal stint under the cowl; it had surprised him to find out she ended up in Tibet.
It also relieved him. Because no matter how dark a path his son wandered, there would be someone to challenge him. To not obey without question. To give him a link to the life he once had, to being human and alive.
(Bruce very carefully doesnât think about Jasonâdoesnât wonder if things had been different, if he wouldnât have reached out as well. Even after so many years, that wound is still raw.)
The whole thing is a stark difference from the last few times he ended up in the hospital, including when he was dosed on Joker venom several months ago. He didnât hear anything from them at that point, which makes him think someone really thought he was dying this time and reached out.
Barbara, maybe. Or Dick. However much tension there is between himself and Bruce, he does keep in touch with the others.
Hell, it might even have been Terry. The kid doesnât know the rest of them personally, but heâs gotten adept at navigating the computer in the cave. And heâs always been curious about his predecessors.
Bruceâs first family.
Or maybe just the first phase of the family.
Bruce shies away from that secret bit of knowledge he has about Terry, and his brother Matt. What he discovered the first time the kid returned to the Cave with bloody gashes that needed stitching up. The files and medical information buried beneath every firewall he could fashion, so the boy never stumbles upon it accidentally.
The most heâs allowed himself to acknowledge it is an amendment in his will setting aside trust funds for both boys.
As if triggered by his thoughts, the screen of the Bat-Computer flickers to life. He rolls his shoulders, expecting an alert on some heist or robbery going on in the city; another case to add to the docket for Terry to investigate after school (depending on the severity).
Bruce doesnât expect the Cave to suddenly fill with a jaunty, haunting carnival tune that makes his entire body seize in recognition. And yet, he already knows whatâs coming even before the words HA HA HA coalesce upon the screen. Â

[ YOUNG MA, SHE|HER, 30 ] KATE KANE has been spotted in gotham city! the VIGILANTE is publicly known as BATWOMAN, and have often been described as DEDICATED, but also STUBBORN. they have also been affiliated with the BATFAM, and said to mainly operate in GOTHAM. will they help find answers, or add to the chaos? [ adry, she/her, 26, est ]
Born into one of Gotham's elite families, Kate Kane lived a childhood of luxury alongside her twin sister Beth and their parents.
Things changed on their 12th birthday when Kate, her sister and their mother were kidnapped, Colonel Jacob Kane (their father) only being able to rescue one of the three family members taken from him.Â
Once in high school, Kate participated in various sports, was part of JROTC program and was atop of her class academically.
She began attending West Point where she received excellent grades and managed to rank at the top of her class.
Before she graduated however, she was asked disavow accusations against her for maintaining a relationship with another female student. She refused, and thus she was kicked out and sent home. Her father remained supportive, affirming that she upheld her honor.
She began attending college, where adopted a wild social life style and pursued a DJ career.Â
Known for being flashy, with plenty of expensive jewelry on her person, one night after a gig she was almost mugged, but managed to defeat the assailant with her military training. She met Batman that night, who assisted her in detaining the mugger until the police arrived.
Kate became inspired by the meeting and soon after began to fight crime with her military equipment. Her father found out and began to assist her, even sending her to some of his best contacts to gain more field experience.
After a few months, she gained the attention of Batman, who told her if she's going to use his symbol, she must play by his rules. Kate losses the lethal weapons and starts to use an arsenal inspired by Batman.
Officially adopting the symbol and creating the mantel of Batwoman, Kate changed her appearance while in uniform to maintain a vampiric image. Donning a long bright red wig, pale facial make-up, and deep red lipstick,Batwoman gained a fearful reputation in the underbelly of Gotham.
After 5 years active, she's worked alongside Batman Inc., Birds of Prey, and the Justice League, but remains independent for the most part.Â
During Joker's take over of Arkham Asylum, Batwoman was in the island helping neutralize the inmates. Once the chaos began to die down, Batwoman returned to the batcave, where she learnt Joker was dead.
Unlike others, who were either skeptical or afraid, Kate celebrated the demise of the clown, maintaining a hopeful outlook about the future of Gotham City now that he is dead.

Ever Since We Met [Based off the song Nearly Witches by Panic! At the Disco]
Song for reference (Live ver. 2011)Â
Song for reference (Org, with lyrics)
Dear lord I hate school. 5 tests, 3 essays, and a presentation in 3 weeks?
It was the beginning of the second semester of your 11th year in high school [secondary school?]. This was the most important year of your education. The year where all your grades and extracurricular actually mean something. Everything seemed to fall on top of you at once. If you had it your way, you would have dropped out and gone to performance school. But your parents would never allow that. So you dragged your ass out of bed into Hell. You didnât care for much. But you only cared about one thing. Cheesy as it is, the school's music program is the only reason why you even try; your parents wouldnât let you be in the music program if your grades were awful. You were the president of the program, you sang, danced and played both the clarinet and guitar.
The best part about this program was not just the fact it wasnât a boring classical orchestral highschool band, but that it was a versatile program, where there were guitarists, drummers, bass players, singers, and dancers. It was to focus on different styles while promoting individuality and unity. Most students played more than one instrument and everyone was like a family.
You enjoyed adding new people to the program each year. But when your director said that there was a new singer who transferred in, you felt nervous yet excited. Since the seniors graduated last year, the program lacked any singers, and while you were amazing, it wasnât your focus as was dance and guitar.
âLee Sanghyuk is his real name but prefers to be called Dawon, I believe,â said your teacher. âHeâs a singer and dancer, doesnât play any instruments.â Wow, so I have a bit of competition now? âItâs your responsibility as president to introduce him to the program. I expect you to make an announcement to all three music class periods. And I believe heâs joining your class. Make sure you update on our set list for the concert in a month. I havenât handed out the parts yet, but I heard the kid sing.â You relaxed at his expression. He seemed excited by it. âHeâs one of the best I heard since our last male singer graduated.â
You took a look at the setlist. 2 general orchestral pieces and 1 instrumental alternative piece for the high school, 1 indie for the 8th graders, 2 combined 6th and 7th-grade pieces, few jazz ensemble pieces and a drum line piece. With a dance performance put in, the concert would run about an hour and a half.
âNearly Witches? Isnât that a Panic! At the Disco piece? For the high schoolâ You asked. âIndeed it is. Itâs the last song on the piece. Itâs probably going to be a duo.â
Oh no. Your the only female singer right now and you havenât even heard the new kid yet. âI know what youâre thinking y/n, and donât worry, your voices match each other.â The bell rang, meaning you had to go to your last class. âGood luck kiddo, you can do it!â You loved your teacher. He was almost like a second parent.
Next Day:
You came to school early so you could run to the music room and meet the new kid. As you walked in your heart skipped a beat.
Oh god heâs hot. Almost tripping over the instrument cable damn 8th graders you walked into the office. You were trying hard to keep your composure. He had soft black hard and beautiful brown eyes, was a little taller than you were, though you were in heels. He had a smile that was so bright you thought you needed sunglasses. Your teacher read your mind and started giggling as he instructed you to sit.
Okay, professionalism. You gotta know the kid for the benefit of the program.
âHi Iâm Sanghyuk, but you could call me Dawon!â His voice was bright and I feel like he's comedic and outgoing. âHi Dawon! Iâm Y/N, the president. I heard youâre a vocalist? I know this is fast but we have a concert in about a month. Do you have a free period so we can discuss?â Iâm talking so fast oh god. I hope he doesnât notice Iâm staring.
âUh, I think 4th period?â You saw his schedule. I share 4 classes including free period. This should be fun.
âDo you dance Dawon? After school on Thursdays we have a dance class. We do stuff from hip hop to alternative and traditional. I can introduce you to the Dance team leader for you.âÂ
âI actually love dancing, Iâll take you up on that offer.â Does she know that Iâm really fuckin nervous.Â
âI think youâre gonna be a great addition to the program Dawon!â said your teacher, noticing the slight tension.Â
The bell rang, and the first music class came in. The three music classes were the two highschool and the one middle school. The first was High school A. Your friends Taeyang, Zuho and Rowoon walk in. They greet you and Dawon; Taeyang walks by and whispers in your ear âheâs cute, I approve.â and you hit him playfully. âDawon, Iâd like you to meet the dance team leader and the most awful best friend in the world. Taeyang, we have a new member for Dance.â
He took one look at Dawon. âLike I said, I approve. Talk to me after school newbie.âÂ
âWell I wouldnât bet on it, I have about 100 other things I gotta do, you gotta prove to be a priority!â I hope she found that comment funny or Iâm gonna launch myself out the window. Oh my god and heâs comedic. Please donât let me fall for this boy. You, Taeyang, Rowoon and Zuho are laughing. Thank god.Â
As the class settles in, you walk in and introduce him to the group. Everyone muttered in delight; another singer. He shot finger guns at everyone when you described him, and everyone giggled. Oh boy a class clown. Everyones gonna love him.Â
Throughout the day, you led him through the school. You two seemed to bond on your mutual hatred for the stupid amount of work you have as 11th graders. â5 test and 2 essays??â âAnd a presentation!â âHow are you alive at this school?â How do i tell him that this music program is the reason why I even try. âI mean, I have music I guess, its my passion.â Oh my god sheâs amazing. I canât believe I met someone who loves music this much. He seems to love music as well. This might be fun.
During your free period, which you previously shared with only Zuho, you two helped Dawon catch up with music stuff. âOur teacher said he wants you and I to sing this song as a duet for the concert.â Nearly Witches by Panic! At the Disco? You both looked at the lyrics while Zuho sat at the table doing his homework. âEver since we met, I only shoot up with your perfume, Its the only thing, that makes me feel as good as you doâ oh god I hope the blushing isnât noticeable. Â
âOkay so the lyrics are a little... lovey... Its strictly professional though. Lets spend the next few minutes splitting up the parts and listening to the song.â My teacher is really trying to set me up with this kid isnât he. You text Taeyang the song lyrics and he responds with the heart eyes and laughing emoji and you send back the middle finger one.Â
âWeâre having the whole group sing the first part in french. Seeing that you seem to have a funny bone in you, you can take the âHere I am, composing a burlesque partââ She thinks Iâm funny??Â
âYou can sing the first verse, Iâll take the second verse following the burlesque line. You can sing the pre-chorus, we can sing the chorus together.âÂ
He knows what heâs doing oh wow.Â
The lunch bell rang. Soon after was the music class. After everyones part was handed out, you two went into the practice room to sing vocals while the rest of the group practiced their part.Â
The practice room was a bit on the smaller side; 1 speaker and a music stand.Â
âAlright lets get this shit done Dawon.âÂ
âDonât you mean... lets get this shit Done...won...â That was the dumbest joke Iâve made oh lord- ShES LAUGHING?âÂ
You gave a disapproving laughter at his pun. God heâs cute. ok ok ok focus...
The next 30 minutes were spent singing the parts following the song as it was playing.Â
As class ended, you realized he wrote his number on the back of your sheet music with a note. âYou know, we might be partners, but that doesnât mean we canât be friends.â I hope that wasnât too much. HIS NUMBER OH LORD. I hope this works out...
______________
You two spent the next two weeks bonding over whatever. You two got along really well. You had a mutual love for dancing. Heâs such a good dancer. You found out that itâs been his dream to be a performer/singer. This only made you love him more.
He became everyone's favorite joker, the teachers loved him because he did his work, the students loved him because he made funny, snarky comments about people. Basically he opened up real quick to everyone and fit in right away.Â
The best part was during rehearsals. There was a part in the song where the right way to sing the line is in a prissy valley girl accent and every time he does it, the entire class erupts in laughter and you feel yourself falling for him even more. At this point it became a full blown crush on this dude. And during dance practice, Taeyang made sure that you two were close together (he knows all).
He hung out with your general group of friends a lot. I hope she likes me back at some point. Iâve never felt this way about someone before. You noticed how whenever heâs around you he pulls out really bad puns and jokingly flirts with you. Rowoon keeps telling you that he thinks he likes you, but you deny it.
âThe song is strictly professionalism.â
The day of the concert was getting closer and closer. You two were told that because it was the last song on the show that you two had to put on a performance. Performance? Its a love song and weâre making it a duet. This could be my chance to pull something. I canât perform that well, I can show emotion but putting on an act?
The day before the concert you had a sound check/dress rehearsal. This was the time to practice with the amount of space.
âOkay so the beginning is us turned around facing the ensemble. As the song goes into the guitars, we turn around and start dancing. Itâll be mild impromptu.â you explain.
âHow should I do my valley girl accent?â he asked everyone, but directed towards you. He starts reenacting that part several times with different poses and accents until the whole group including the teacher is laughing uncontrollably. Dear lord I love him. Your heart rushed with happiness and affection as you told him âWhatever you like. Every time I make her laugh, the happier I feel and the more love I feel for her.Â
THE DAY OF THE CONCERT:
You were wearing a short blue dress, white necklace, light make up and your hair falling to your sides. Dawon was wearing a short sleeved blue collared shirt and black jeans, with faux glasses and he hair straightened. Wow. She/Heâs hot.
The songs passed, one by one, each group walked off stage and you stood by the door praising everyone. The dance performance came. You couldnât perform as you requested not to; it was a particularly difficult song and you wanted to watch your boys. Taeyang, Zuho, Rowoon, Dawon as well as Inseong, Jaeyoon, Hwiyoung, Chani and Youngbin all performed a self choreographed and produced song called K.O. At Dawons part you couldnât stop staring at him. God heâs so good. Is she watching. I hope shes watching. She better be watching, Iâm using all of my energy.
As the song ended, you greeted them with hugs as the audience and students cheered. The dance performances usually got the most response.
Soon it was time for the duet. Usually you were nervous, but this time, with Dawon, you felt at ease.Â
The whole group walked onto the stage. Here we go.Â
âMy wing tips waltz across naive wood floors. They creak innocently down the stairs.â You start.
Dawons part came up. Oh boy.Â
âHERE I AM, COMPOSING A BURLESQUE, OUT OF WHERE THEY REST THEIR NECKSâ Dawon did a 360 degree turn, jumped off the stage, sassily stood with his arm up and hand facing down, his eyes closed and in the most high pitch voice sang with his heart. The audience loved it. You loved it. You loved him.Â
You two sung through the whole song, but what confused you was that he walked by Taeyang and grabbed something and hid it behind him halfway through, but you didnât pay much attention to it.
You two sang the last part together. Waltzing on stage, pretending to be lovers.
âAnd my one regret is you~~â which was repeated about 4 times.
The last time you two sang that line, he turned around, pulled out something which made the audience gasp and aww. Then turned to you. Here goes nothing.
âAnd my one regret is you.â A FLOWER!Â
As he handed you the flower, you almost in tears, him with a goofy smile and on one knee, the song ends. This is a dream. She accepted it! The whole audience and ensemble is cheering.
You two walk out on stage, flower in one hand, your other hand holding his, and bow down.
After the concert, you two walk back to the music room. As you two pack up your things, as well as in the post concert commotion, he throws the question. At this point itâs just you two alone in the instrument closet.
âSo, Y/N... do you, maybe wanna go out some time?â please say yes please say yes.
Truly a dream come true oh my god oh my god!Â
You kiss his cheek. âDoes that answer that for you?âÂ
To break the tension he replys in a sarcastic voice, âNo actually it doesnât!âÂ
âYes of course Iâll go out with you you big goof.â
He kisses your cheek just as the rest of you friends look through the window. Rowoon walks in shouting.
âHEY LOVE BIRDS WEâRE GONNA GO CELEBRATE AT THAT ONE BOUGIE RESTAURANT DOWNTOWN, CARE TO JOIN OR ARE YâALL GONNA FUCK?âÂ
Dawon starts laughing and you hit Rowoon with a music stand, but agree to go.
The music program truly was the one thing that made you happy.

It did surprise her to see how rather mature he was being about the subject regarding Bruce's capabilities of being a present father. Emma thought for sure Joker would fuel her anger even further, yet he was currently talking to her from an unbiased perspective.
As soon as the words 'prom dress' left her mouth, she regretted it. Emma could not even imagine how an event like that would go down. It was not up at the top of her list of 'things to do before graduating high school' unlike it was for others, but it seemed like now it was going to become an unnecessarily major event. But she could fortunately not sit and think about that entire scenario, there was still plenty of time before they would eventually have to deal with that. "There's still a lot of time before we even have to think about prom. Besides, I'll probably have patrol that night--thatâs what I did during homecoming."
It had been comforting to see the man somewhat settle down and reassure her he was not going to push her out of her fashion comfort zone; though she felt he was going to have a bias towards the far more 'flashy' styles. âAnd maybe some socks.â She added in before feeling the need to clarify before Joker could jump to any outrageous conclusion. âNormal socks, they can have patterns on them but nothing with glitter.â It felt like that was going to end up in a bit of a mess.
Emma shifted her focus back to his clothes, reminding her what she should mentally prepare for seeing on their shopping adventure. âDo you have any...casual clothes?â She finally asked, even if the man was not going to look like the clownâwalking around in stilettos and sequins would still grab lots of unwanted attention. Her eyes looked over all the clothes that had been laid out. âDo you own a pair of jeans? Or a solid color t-shirt?â

Emma tried not to dwell too much about Bruce when around the Joker, she wanted their shared moments to remain uninterrupted by Bruce, wether it was actually him or just the thought of him. Still, being around someone who was willing to listen to whatever she had to say made it easier for her to say her thoughts. âI donât even know why he kept me if he knew he wasnât going to do anything with me.â
As long as the clown could remain unrecognizeable and preferably not draw much attention, Emma felt herself to be willling to go out in public with him. âWe can do the mall.â She still hesitated in nodding at the idea, as it was still certainly going to be stressful for her to keep under control. Maybe she should have asked Bruce to rent out a department store for them to use, but a conversation like that would lead to the questioning of the clownâs room status at the manor. Emma would just have to be on high alert, she could simply treat it like a patrol but in a mall and any move she did could not draw suspicion onto herself.
âItâs not going to be anything crazy or extravagant.â Emma wanted to clarify that the trip was not going to be as big as to what the Joker might anticipate it to be. âI just need a regular, normal jacket. Not a prom dress.â
@cute-clown-extraordinaire
âThatâs a question better asked to the man in question, my dear. The best we can do is speculate, and we both know how much of an enigma Batman is.â Joker had a couple of educated guesses as to why Bats acted the way he did, but at the end of the day, this wasnât a problem for him to solve. The only way Emma would receive an answer was to speak to the Bat herself.
The clownâs face lit up when Emma agreed to go to the mall later. âHow lovely! Oh itâll be so much fun!â He clapped excitedly, eyes wide and twinkling with anticipation. He hasnât been to the mall in a while, preferring boutiques and online shopping. Now that he thought about it, he missed the bustling chaos of a mall. Thereâd be plenty of distractions to keep their conversation fresh.
At the mention of prom dresses, Joker gasped in delight and held his face with his hands. âThatâs a brilliant idea, Little Emma! We have to go prom dress shopping when the time comes! I canât wait!â It was going to be so cute! âJust a regular jacket this time - got it! I wonât push anything on you. I promise.â He placed a hand over his heart. âThe happiness of the wearer is more important than my opinions.â

-Regina Spektor, "Two Birds"
Then.
Once their guest had left, Tim turned to Dick with a wounded air.
âHow about giving me some warning next time before someone shows up, huh? Â A little heads-up wouldâve been nice.â
Dickâs smile didnât falter.
âWhat, did she catch you doing something embarrassing?â
Tim skewered him a look of disgust.
âDo you have to make everything sound dirty?â
âSorry, sorry.  âŠIâm surprised youâre still doing âthatâ after all these years though.â
Tim shrugged with a heavy sigh. Â âWas just testing to see if I still could, I guess. Â I messed up on the landing anyway.â
âYou probably just need to work on your form some more.  It has been a while since I last saw you brush up on any techniques, theyâre bound to get a bit rusty.  If you want, I can still coach youâŠâ
Timâs lips tightened.
âForget it. Â Itâs not worth it.â
âAre you sure? Â That girl seemed pretty impressed by it. Sheâs the one you were talking about earlier, right?â Â Dick nodded in sage observation. Â âSheâs cute; nice face, decent rack- ow!â Â He rubbed his arm as it was abruptly met with an annoyed punch. Â âHey, it was a compliment.â
ââŠDidnât sound like one.â
âWould you prefer I said she has a mighty fine ass?â Â He waggled his brows and grinned provocatively, despite wincing from the pain. Â Kid could still hit pretty hard when he wanted to. âNot as fine as mine though.â
âShut up before I shove a dumbbell up there.â
Dick clutched his behind in mock dread at the threat.
âSeriously though, sheâs obviously into you.â
Tim rolled his eyes. âThe way I see it, from where Iâm standing, sheâs more into you.â
âOh ho, do I detect a note of jealousy?â
âNo,â Tim denied hotly, though his cheeks told a different story. Â âItâs just that youâre being super-gross about it. Â You know youâre acting like Bruce by coming onto every giddy schoolgirl and her mom who walks in through the door.â
Dickâs smirk jerked slightly.
âWow, okay dude, weâre really going there.â Â It was his turn to be hurt by insensitivity. Â âYou didnât need to go that far. Â Iâll have you know this and that are completely different.â
âHow so?â
âI approach these things from a sole marketing perspective. Â Purely professional. Â Itâs called âshow businessâ, bro.â
âUh-huh. Â This coming from the guy who just lied about his scars to make himself look good. Â I suppose âthatâsâ also part of your advertising strategy?â
âHey, itâs not like it was a total lie.  That really did happen, you know â minus the âfalling debrisâ part.  âŠBesides, what else would you have me say?â
Tim shook his head, keeping his voice low.  ââŠI donât know.â
Dick seized on the telling silence. Â âYou are attracted to her, arenât you?â
âI am not.â
âItâs okay, I can see why. Itâs all right to admit these things, you know. Â You donât have to hide it.â
âIâm not hiding anything.â
The firm, yet flustered defiance only further confirmed Dickâs suspicion.
âHeh heh, little Timmyâs got a crush~â
He tousled Timâs hair teasingly, to which the boy scowled.
âI do not.â Â He pushed the invading hand away in indignation. Â âWill you cut that out already? Â Iâm not a kid anymore.â
Dick lowered his limb in disappointment.
âOkay, okay. Â Sorry.â Â Despite insistence otherwise, it delighted Dick that Tim was finally exhibiting some of the youthful desire â if not exuberance â heâd missed out on through his teenage years. Â âTrust me though, I have no interest in someone her age. Â Sheâs all yours.â
âLook, will you just drop it?â Tim snapped bluntly. Â âItâs none of your freakinâ business.â
Dick exhaled, clicking his tongue.  If only Tim could be more honest with his feelings, true to himself â though he was painfully aware of how excruciatingly difficult that must be, what with everything the boy had been through.  To be fair, he had his own troubles genuinely opening his heart to others, after all the times it had been broken and betrayed before.  âŠHe could only imagine how terrifying it must be for Tim, to allow someone else â a complete and total stranger â to get close by entering into his currently (semi-)stable and secure â if supremely secluded life, experience that kind of risky emotion again. Breach the many walls and defensive barriers he had set up around himself, upset the plainly precarious balance that was still a struggle to barely maintain.  So as much as he wanted to continue coaxing and clowning â kidding around, he agreed to leave it alone for now, raising both palms in admitted defeat.
âOkay, I get it. Â I wonât bother you about it anymore.â
The subject successfully dismissed, Tim attuned towards the boxes in the back.
âSo did you want me to help with moving this stuff or what?â
âYeah, I needed to clear out some old things to make space for new equipment.  Trying to tidy up the place more, getting rid of useless junk and whatnot.  âŠAlthough most of itâs probably going up to the storeroom in the attic anyway.  Sorry to bother you for this; Iâd do all the lifting myself, but with my backâŠâ
âDonât mention it, itâs the least I can do to repay you.â
âThanks, I appreciate it.â
Tim knelt by one of the cartons as Dick set to work sifting and sorting, organizing according to some arbitrary system that ostensibly only made sense to him.
âChrist, how much crap do you have here? Â Seriously, what even is half this junk? Â I knew you had all kinds of odd ends lying around, but I didnât realize it amounted to this much. Â Do you ever throw anything away?â
Dick shrugged.
âWhat can I say, Iâm a hoarder by nature.  Keeping keepsakes is my hobby. Â ïżœïżœïżœWell, more like a habit, I guess.  Why do you think we had a trophy room in the basement?  It wasnât originally Bruceâs idea, I can tell you that.â
Tim remained quiet as he poked through a large collection of CDs, containing a few recognizable but mostly random titles by various indie bands and artists heâd never heard of.
âMan, youâve got weird taste in music.â
âHey, donât knock the classics. Â Those are precious goods, be careful with those.â
In spite of his scoffing, Tim picked up one of the discs that appealed to him, and was almost about to subconsciously slip the item under his oversized hoodie â an old, old habit of his own â before remembering he didnât have to resort to sneaking or stealing when he could just ask.
âCan I borrow this?â
Dick didnât even twist to look, implicitly trusting in his little brotherâs judgment. Â âYeah sure, go ahead.â
Tim breathed out in relief as he pocketed the prize with permission. Â That was a close call. Â Borderline kleptomaniac compulsions hadnât surfaced like that in a long time, but then, it was only another minor checkbox on the extensive, exhaustive list of psychotic symptoms he was suffering from today.
There was another entry that caught his eye, different from the others. Â It had no hard case or album cover; just a plain, simple jacket labeled with marker:
For Babs.
Tim wondered if it was a mix tape â surely Dick wouldnât have tried to record something himself? He couldnât tell whether it was a gift Dick planned to give but never worked up the courage to â or something Barbara sent back after (one of numerous) breakup(s).
âŠMaybe Joker was right. Being in love with someone seemed like way more hassle than it was worth.  Hell, just watching those two go back and forth between affection and anger even back then was tiring.  Aggravating.
At any rate, he left burning curiosity alone, not wanting to intrude too much on Dickâs privacy (years ago he wouldâve taunted his brother with the juicy bit of exposing bait himself, but that was then, when he was less mature and still found amusement in such things), and moved on to another container. Â As soon as he saw the contents inside, he balked a bit, heartbeat spiking. Â Aching. Â It was a family photo album, full of fond memories from the Flying Graysonsâ circus days. His hands trembled as he flipped tentatively through the pages, unable to tear away even though it made him uncomfortable for a number of reasons. Â Paranoid of polaroids. Â Anything involving camerawork tended to make him queasy, though he could typically tolerate homages to others at least. Â These were different from the blown-up, polished posters on the wall though; the images portrayed within were more intimate, unscripted. Â Candid, captured moments of a close-knit clan, happy as a clam â treasured remnants of childhood innocence and bliss combined with parental pampering.
âThis must have been such a cool place to grow up.â
ââŠIt was.â
Glancing back at the receptacle, buried at the bottom was another set of snapshots: a framed photograph of Dick and Barbara together (him smiling smugly straight at her in puppy-like adoration while she beamed brightly at the viewer instead), and a worn print of the former in graduation garb next to Bruce, who had his paw wrapped proudly on the otherâs shoulder. Â Scrawled on the top left-hand corner in Bruceâs surprisingly haphazard handwriting was a short congratulatory message:
Good luck at college, Dick.
Tim recalled how Dick told him the story of Bruce missing his graduation from Gotham State University, shortly before the two split up as Batman and Robin.  (âŠThe old man never even bothered to come to his own high school ceremony â not that Tim was expecting him to â although Dick and Barbara both did attend at least, albeit sitting at opposite ends of the auditorium.)
âIt was building for a long time.  I realize that now.  âŠIt was never really right.  I mean, this isnât exactly a normal childhood.â
He hadnât really comprehended the notion then, but Tim understood now what those words meant â unfortunately all too well.
Tim sensed a shadow behind him, and for a brief instant, he half-envisioned it being Bruce from the way it loomed â but of course when he revolved around it was only Dick instead.
âYo, you all right? You look like youâve just seen a ghost.â
âYeah, Iâm fine.â  Tim looked down at the scrapbook in his lap, a wistful mist in his eyes.  âI was just⊠thinking I donât really have any pictures of my folks.  At least none where weâre all together.â  Or that isnât a mugshot, he thought sullenly to himself.  âI never saw my dad keep any mementos of Mom after she died.  To be honest, Iâm not sure I even still remember what she looks like.â
Dick plopped down on the ground next to him, resting a hand on the boyâs sagged shoulder.
âListen, I hope you know: No matter what, you can always think of the two of us as family at least. I know I havenât exactly been that much of a great guardian myself, that I could never replace what you lost either⊠But you are still a brother to me. Hell, I consider you the closest thing to a real relative Iâve had since then.â
Tim simply nodded, swallowing a lump in his gorge. Â Dick patted his back with a thump.
âUs guys, we gotta stick together, right? Â Through thick and thin.â
âYeah.â  Tim ducked his neck towards his collar, surreptitiously drying ducts on his sweatshirt.  ââŠThanks, you know, for letting me stay here so long.  Roy and Conner too.â
âHey, what are friends for?â A pause.  ââŠHowâs Conner doing by the way?â
Tim snorted, the caution in the otherâs tone not escaping his notice. Â âWhat do you care? Â You never liked him anyway.â
âThatâs not true. Itâs just⊠The whole idea of cloning someone kinda wigs me out, okay?  I dunno, imagining there being a duplicate copy of you running around is freaky enough, but one of Superman?  It still doesnât sit well with me to leave him loose like that, after all the underhanded crap Cadmus has pulled.  Something about it just doesnât seem right.  Whoâs to say he doesnât have some secret kill switch thatâll make him go rogue like Supergirlâs doppelganger?  Gotham may be full of crazies and creeps, but at least we never really had to deal with stuff of metahuman caliber aside from Ivy and Clayface, or Kirk when he took the serum.â  Dick intentionally didnât include Killer Croc on the atypical rogues roster; guy was too dumb a criminal to count.  âWeâre on the high end of the âweirdâ scale, sure, but not even Batmanâs equipped to take down a serious superpowered menace alone.â
Tim glared at him in disbelief.
âIs that you talking, or the old man?â
ââŠMaybe a bit of both,â Dick willingly conceded.  âLook, Iâm just worried, thatâs all.â
âYeah well, donât be. Iâve got Mr. Kent on speed-dial, and Kon gave me his full consent to use the Kryptonite at my discretion as part of our âroommate agreementâ.  If anything happens, he told me himself he wants me to hit him with it as hard as I can.â âŠEven if it meant killing him â although Tim knew he could never go through with that. Not again. âBesides, itâs not him youâre actually worried about, is it?â
âTimâŠâ
âNo, you know what this is?â Tim clenched his fist, drawing away from contact again. Â âYou look at him with the same way you do me â like some ticking time bomb about to explode. Iâm getting real sick and tired of it.â
âItâs not like that.â
âSure it isnât.  Look, for your information, Connerâs doing fine. Hell, he pretty much behaves just like you; heâs probably getting wasted and chasing after chicks at some mixer right now.  âŠThatâs what you call a ânormal college lifeâ, isnât it?â
Dick cleared his throat, aversely acknowledging hypocrisy.
ââŠWhat about you?  How is school going?  Do you like it there?â
Tim shrugged.
âItâs okay.â
âYou know you didnât have to just stick locally around here.  If you wanted to go someplace else I wouldâve sponsored you.  I mean, I chose to stay close to Gotham because of that⊠âpart-time jobâ stuff, but youâre smart, you couldâve gone anywhere better.â
âI told you, Iâm fine with this.â
âWhat about taking that girlâs suggestion at least? Â Life doesnât just have to be about books and studying for tests all the time either, you know. Â Look at it this way: Youâve got the time and opportunity now to be a part of after-class club activities that I never had. Â Why not take advantage of it, get out there and socialize. Â Enjoy the excitement of your youth and all that.â
Tim stared, trying unsuccessfully to read the otherâs expression. Â He couldnât deduce whether the dude was just being humorously sarcastic, or genuinely envious and attempting to live vicariously through him. Â Either way, he wasnât falling for it.
âI said forget it.â                             Â
Dick kept pressing despite disengagement, earnest in his endeavor to tempt Tim to pursue what used to fill the boy with fervent passion, desperately hoping to rekindle some kind of joyful spark.
âCome on, Iâm sure itâll be fun. Â I bet I could even still teach you to do a quadruple somersault if youâre interested.â
âWhy? Â I suck at it.â
âYou just need more practice.  âŠBesides, itâd be kind of a shame to let a legacy die out without passing it on to at least one person.â
Tim wavered at the sincere, if somewhat scheming statement.
âI donât knowâŠâ
âTrust me, itâs easy once you get the hang of it.â
âMaybe for you.â Â He bitterly bit his tongue under his breath. Â âIâd like to see you try to concentrate on keeping your balance with the Joker as a peanut gallery.â
âWhat was that?â
ââŠNothing.â
Dick held his gaze for a second.
âTim, I didnât want to bring this up, but⊠Conner called me the other day.  He told me, about the lab incident.  He says you havenât been sleeping or eating much either.â
Tim grit his jaw, feeling like a dagger had just been thrust in his gut. Â He couldnât believe his best (perhaps only) bud in the world would betray him like that.
âDamnit, Kon.â
âDonât blame him, heâs just worried about you too. Â I told you: You donât need to keep hiding things from us. Â Weâre here to help if you need anything. Â Babs too. Â If somethingâs troubling you, you can talk to us.â
âItâs fine, Iâm handling it.â
Dick wouldnât desist, determined to get the truth out of him.
âTim, I heard you yelling earlier.  âŠHeâs back again, isnât he?â
The boy sighed in surrender, eyes slanting stage right.  ââŠTo your left, making faces.â
His partner fixed him with stern concern.
âAre you off your meds again?â
âThey donât work. Â Not as well as they used to.â
âThat doesnât mean you should just stop taking them.â
âFor what? Â So I can only experience the side effects?â
âSo talk to Leslie. Â Ask her to adjust the dosage.â
Tim made a hollow noise. Â âIâm already on the highest strength thatâs considered âsafeâ for human consumption.â
Dick pulled out his phone anyway and began dialing her number.
âIâm contacting her. Â There must be at least something else we can try.â
âNot Dr. Thompkins,â Tim whined, as if a toddler throwing a tantrum.
âLook, either you call to make an appointment, or I will.â
Tim seethed, grinding his teeth. Â âAll right, fine. Â Jeeze. God, you and Barbara still both treat me like a fucking child.â
âYeah well, maybe if you stop acting like one.â
âWhatever. Â Just hand me the phone. Â Iâll talk to her.â
Dick extended the cell towards Tim, who took it with all the enthusiasm of accepting a dirty sock.
âItâs ringing.â
He listened closely in on the conversation to confirm a meeting time was set up, before Tim returned the receiver.
âHere. Â She wants to talk to you.â
Dick lifted the mobile to his ear.
âHey, doc.â
âHello, Richard. Â Itâs good to hear from you boys. Â Howâs the back treating you?â
âFine.â Â He didnât want to dwell too much on his own health status, so he moved on to the matter at hand. Â âIs there anything we can do to help Tim?â
âIn such a rare and unusual case as this, itâs hard to say. Â Itâd be beneficial to start by identifying the root of his relapse. Â Once we pinpoint that, itâll be easier to formulate a treatment plan. Â Itâs possible it could just be due to the stress of moving to a new environment. Â Itâs good that youâve been able to help support him through high school, but now that heâs becoming independent it may be triggering a stronger separation anxiety response in him. Â Even if consciously he rejects it, the Joker ingrained himself as a parental figure in Timâs mind. Â Essentially, he equates that kind of attention with the nurturing love and protection he never properly received growing up. Â Itâs common for child victims of abuse to form a disorganized attachment to the caregiver, especially when the caregiver behaves in an inconsistent manner. Â The conflict of the caregiver being both a source of comfort and distress can cause the child to display contradictory patterns when faced with a stressful situation; instinct tells him to simultaneously avoid and approach the one who is mistreating him. Â In the absence of a familiar atmosphere heâs accustomed to, heâs likely seeking alternate methods of coping as a survival mechanism. Â Has he been under any kind of particular pressure lately?â
Dick relayed the events leading up to the fainting spell, with little input from Tim beyond affirmative nods.
âI see. Â Itâs certainly a sign of progress that heâs trying to face his fears, but a heads-on approach might not be the best tactic.â
âI tried to tell him that. Â He wonât listen.â
âIâll have a chat with him about it when I see him, hopefully we can find a way for him to succeed in his studies without compromising his sense of safety. Â One more question, this is important: Has he tried to harm himself?â
âI⊠donât think so.  Iâll check, and let you know.â
âPlease do.â
As Dick temporarily terminated the exchange, he rotated to see Tim had stood up and was headed towards the door.
âWhere do you think youâre going?â
âOut for a smoke â walk â whatever. Â Just text me when you need me.â
âHold it.â Â The harsh bark arrested the boy before he was halfway to the exit. Â âWrists.â
Tim swiveled with a sour countenance.
âSeriously? Â Do we really have to do this?â
âShow me.â
He hissed, but obediently rolled up his sleeves, revealing bare but apparently unmarked skin.
âSatisfied?â
Dick advanced and examined him all over anyway, before nodding.
âAll right. Â Now empty your pockets.â
Tim tsked, feeling as violated as when the staff at the detention center frisked him on admittance for any concealed contraband. Â He dug through his possessions, retrieving objects one by one: phone, wallet, CD player, lighter, cigarettes, and finally â under Dickâs demanding eye â the hidden pocketblade.
âGive me the knife.â
He hesitated.
âDonât make me wrestle it from you.â
Relinquishing, he slapped the weapon into Dickâs grip without a word.
âThank you. Â You can go, but try to keep near.â
âSure thing, Mom.â
Dick deliberately chose to ignore the sardonic retort, used to receiving attitude by now. Â (For a fleeting moment, he mused if he ever gave Bruce this much frustration, although no doubt Alfred would certainly attest to it.)
After Tim left, Dick hit redial to reassuringly inform Leslie on the observed lack of self-inflicted damage to the patientâs physical condition at least â and preemptive confiscation of means just to be safe â before bidding goodbye with a final beep. Â He sighed as he rubbed his neck, hoping his âtough loveâ hadnât come off as too deterring. He really wasnât good with this whole âparentingâ thing, considering the primary role model he had for nearly half of his life after early adolescence.
As he picked up the memoir from the floor, he caressed his fingers feather-light over the cover, brushing off collected dust and disenchantment before delicately placing it on a shelf for easy viewing access.  The rest he unceremoniously dumped in the âto tossâ pile, purposefully cramming as much trash as he could on top.  âŠAfter a few minutes though he fished them out again, rescuing from the base of the rubbish heap with ambivalent reluctance, restoring to the original package and sealing tightly with tape.  They could remain upstairs for now at least â like his ruined Nightwing costume â evidence of old wounds and shattered bonds shuttered behind closed panel; tucked away in the dark recesses of his conscience, lurking and lingering deep in the shadows off-screen.
Out of sight, out of mind.
Two birds of a feather Say that they're always gonna stay together But one's never going to let go of that wire He says that he will But he's just a liar

character life:Â
movie history:Â Â
Harleen Quinzel was born to unnamed parents on was born on July 20, 1990 in Gotham City (in the comic books and in the animated series her parents were named sharon and nick quinzel, in the animated series sharon was her alcoholic mother and her father was a deadbeat dad who was also a greedy gambler and con artist) in the movies her mother is i believe not mention in the movies and her father is unnamed . (also in the book books she has three younger brothers barry, frankie and ezzie, in another universe and timeline and different comic book harley has a sister named Delia Quinzel , in that same universe she has a daughter with the joker who she gives up and the joker doesnât know she exist named lucy)
her family life was highly dysfunctional since her drunkard father constantly tried to abandon her even though she always found her way back homeÂ
sometime during her childhood her nothing good for father sent her to the orphanage run by a nuns while there her attitude landed her into multiple trouble to the point that Harleen smashed a nun with an oar.Â
once she reach high school Harleen became known as a model student, achieving excellent grades as well as extensive gymnastics training. Because of her efforts, she was rewarded a full scholarship to Gotham City University where she majored in psychiatry under Dr. Odin Markus (comic book : she was an Honor Student and a Gymnast. She attended Gotham University so that much was in common with the movie however she initially went to college for Veterinary and Biological Science, but for some unknown reason she left that field to pursue Psychiatry. She excelled in her field, eventually earning a place as a psychiatrist at a prominent hospital, but her interest in criminal psychology led her to transfer to Gotham City's famed Arkham Asylum) not long after her graduation, Quinzel's theoretical thesis made a huge success that it led to her transfer into the job as a psychiatrist intern at Arkham Asylum
the joker one of Harleen patients imprisoned there by none other then Batman, because she talked to him so much at one point she took a particular interest in him, to the point now she regularly visiting and speaking with him.Â
As their sessions went on, Quinzel was gradually manipulated by the psychopath to the point where she eventually fell in love with him, and the Joker got her to smuggle a machine gun into the sanitarium, leading to his escape.Â
Before leaving however, the Joker subjected to Harleen shock therapy, he electrocuted and tortured her until she was completely no longer sane, to the point where she was insane this only greatly affecting her mental state even further
Harleen chased down the joker because she wanted him to take her with him, so they went to Ace Chemicals there the joker asked Quinzel to pledge an oath and was asked if she would die for him. She responded in the by allowed herself to fall into the vat of chemicals after she jumped into the chemicals the joker almost well he considered leaving her to die but promptly changed his mind and jumped in after her, pulling her up to the vat's surface. He then kissed her, and Quinzel awakened with the same frontotemporal dementia that her lover received via exposure to the chemicals and oxygen deprivation.there she got the name harley quinn the name was born (in the comics when she realized his intention, she had struggles against him, but he shoved her into one of the chemical vats and watched her sink to the bottom. Afterwards, he drained it and found her inside, alive, but changed. She had lost touch with reality)Â
in the movies the joker giving her a red-and-black Harlequin costume (in the comics she choose the costume herself)
on October 13,2014 a fellow crime boss monster came visited a strip club owned by the Joker, greeted by the Joker himself. the joker asked for harley to come over once he noticed the otherâs maleâs lustful attraction towards her pole-dancing, calling her a "bad bitch" and greatly angering the Joker.. Monster T, having become aware of the Joker's sarcasm, attempted to assure him that Harley is his girl, and that he wanted "no beef." The Joker, however, just shot Monster T in the head with no waring.
after the two left the jokerâs trip club, the joker drove with harley in the passenger seat in Gotham City street. they were being chased by batman , harley decided when the batman jumped on the car hood that shooting the bat would be a good idea (not that would do anything since his suit is bullet proof) the joker tried to attempting to shake Batman off, made a sharp turn that sent his car flying off the road and straight into the water knowing full well harley would not swin, the joker abandoned both the car and harley (she was saved by none other then batman himself but before that he knocked her out because she was trying to stab him)Â
after batman saved her , he put her on the hood of the batmobile, he checks for a pulse, but does not find one. With very much reluctance, the bat proceeds to perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to try and revive her. A pleased Harley recovered and began to kiss him. Her advances were rejected and she was taken by him into captivity
Quinn was transferred to Belle Reve supermax
after putting several guards into into the hospital, Quinn was eventually given her own special cell to keep her locked up and to keep the guards safe. she was put was put inside a small electrified cage inside of a barbed fence to keep her in contained.
she wasnât given any comforts or clothing; she used the bed sheets supplied for her gymnastic routines
while in prison the sadistic guard, Hunter Griggs, usually force-fed and tortured Quinn,so he has earned her anger over the prolonged monthsÂ
one day while she was in prison she was visited by a government official (since she was recruiting villians for task force x ) harley was meditating when argus director Amanda Waller
task force x was a group of villians that undertake high-risk, covert missions in exchange for commuted prison sentences (the task force was eventually nicknamed suicide squad by one of the members deadshot
harley during their current mission try to escape on a helicopter with the joker (her chip has been disabled) their helicopter is hit with a missile. As both her and Joker both attempt to make their escape, a sudden explosion throws Harley out of the helicopter and she lands on the rooftop below and watches the helicopter, with Joker still in it as it crashes into a nearby building
the suicide squad defeat Enchantress and her brother Incubus
she is back in prison but this time she is enjoying her new espresso machine, the wall outside her wall explodes, allowing The Joker's gang to break in and storm the prison. Harley's cell is forced open with a buzzsaw, allowing Joker to enter and reveal himself to Harley he is still alive. Harley embraces her once lost love and Joker tells her that they're going home
harley relationship was board line abusive he has he's beaten her, thrown her out of cars, and buildings, as well as constantly berating her and giving her the cold shoulder all while manipulating her into loving him .Â
sometime after they return home , the joker grew bored of harley and broke up with her, he had one of his henchmen throwing her out into the streets.
she adopted a hyena, which names Bruce after Bruce Wayne. (she isnât aware that he saved her and both put her in jail and that he is batman)Â
for a time she never publicly said they were broke up until she drove , stealing a truck and sending it hurtling into Ace Chemicals, resulting in a massive explosion.
the few she did tell didnât believe her so she was left largely alone and friendlessÂ
she would soon discovered that declaring her independence came with consequences everyone who she had ever wronged deciding that it was open season on her and they all came after herÂ
she was couldnât do anything in peace not even to enjoy her favorite breakfast sandwich without being attacked.her past has finally caught up with herÂ
the Black Mask captured her , she wasnât sure what she had done to anger him . she had managed to get out of the situation by offering to find his lost diamond for him , he let her go but told her to find a Cassandra Cain
she found Cassandra in Gotham City Police Department, she breaks into the police department makes her way pat the guards towards cain cell and She breaks her out, but her actions also result in the release of the other prisoners in the cell-block, resulting in a three-way fight between her, the escaped prisoners and the other mercenaries sent to try to capture Cassandra Cain
during the fight harleyâs skills are tested and she wins
she has to lay low with cain for a while and bonds with herÂ
she and the birds of prey win the fight against the black maskÂ
sometime after that the birds of prey go get tacos and she and cain ditched the rest and set off in their own adventures and during that time she finds bruce her hyena in chinatown and she takes cain under her wingÂ
Sydney :Â
harley has no memories she had no memories of the joker or the trauma she has been through , not even memories of the birds of prey or task force x/suicide squad. cause she has no memories she isnât aware of her real personality or that she isnât sane .Â
her personality with no memories is like her personality before she meet the joker and went crazy. she back to her kind none crazy personality.Â
she back to working as a Psychiatrist however she isnât a Psychiatrist for criminal like she was before she became harley quinnÂ
harley believes she lived in Sydney her whole life and that she is an only child and she had loving parents
